Year: 2003
Director: Peter Berg

Synopsis:
Beck (The Rock) is a "retrieval expert", sent in to the Amazon to bring back a mob boss's son (Seann William Scott), who is looking for a priceless artifact in the jungle. When Cornelius Hatcher (Christopher Walken), the slave driving operator of a mining town won't let Beck leave with Billy, it becomes a race to be the first to find "El Gato del Diablo".
Review:
It looks to me like The Rock will have a good, solid career as an action movie star when he is done with wrestling. For an action movie this wasn't bad, it was about on a level with the average Scharzenegger or Stallone action movie from the late 80's and early 90's. My biggest complaint, is that they could have had someone other than Christopher Walken playing the villain. Don't get me wrong, I think Christopher Walken makes a great villain (View To A Kill, Batman Returns), but he just seemed somewhat out of place as an action movie bad guy. But as I said, this movie isn't bad. The plot was good, the action was good although a bit too quick at times, and the acting was about what you'd expect for this genre.
My Rating:
7/10
