Synopsis:

Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) continue on their journey into Mordor, led by the twisted and cunning Gollum (Andy Serkis), a former bearer of the ring who wants it back. Meanwhile, Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and Pippen (Billy Boyd) ride to Minas Tirith, to prepare Gondor for the coming assault by Sauron's armies, while Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen) rides with the armies of Rohan, coming to the aid of Gondor. The final battle shapes up, when Gondor and Rohan unite against Sauron's forces, while Frodo and Sam fighting their own strength and will to destroy the one ring, and defeat Sauron once and for all.

Review:

I think this was the best of the three movies. The movie built tension from the beginning to the battle in Gondor, and from there to the final battle between Sauron's army, and the vastly outnumbered forces of Gondor and Rohan. This movie also had the biggest flaw that I could see. The ending was dragged out way too long. It could have ended with Aragorn's coronation as the King of Gondor. But it just gets dragged out past that, with the hobbits' return to the shire, Sam's wedding, and then Bilbo, Gandalf, and Frodo leaving Middle Earth. Still, this was a very strong conclusion to a very well filmed trilogy.

My Rating:
9/10
