Year: 1984
Director: Amy Heckerling
Starring: Michael Keaton, Marilu Henner, Joe Piscopo, Maureen Stapleton
Synopsis:
Johnny Kelly (Michael Keaton) is an honest young man, who is forced to become a well, known gangster, Johnny Dangerously, to help pay his mother's (Maureen Stapleton) medical bills. When he tries to go straight, his rival, Danny Vermin (Joe Piscopo) frames him for murder, and plans to kill Johnny's brother.
Review:
This has got to be the best spoof of old gangster movies ever. I liked it better than "Mafia". This is one of those movies where the cast can just have fun with it, and they do. Michael Keaton does very well with his role as Johnny Kelly/Dangerously, and Joe Piscopo is excellent in this as well. If you like a good, sidesplitting comedy, then by all means rent Johnny Dangerously.
My Rating:
7/10
