Casino Royale

Year: 2006
Director: Martin Campbell

Starring: Daniel Craig, Eva Green, Mads Mikkelsen, Judi Dench

Synopsis:

James Bond (Daniel Craig) is sent on his first mission. He must stop Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a banker to terrorist organizations, from winning a poker tournament, and using the money to fund terrorism. 'M' (Judi Dench) sends along Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) to keep an eye on Bond.

Review:

Well, now that this movie is out, most of Daniel Craig's critics have been silenced. Daniel Craig, as others have done before him, adds his own take on the character of 007. He plays a cold, hard James Bond, but still shows a softer side.

The movie itself was very well done. There were some good action scenes interspersed with the slower paced scenes of the poker game, as well as the character development. At first, I had a bit of trouble connecting Casino Royale with the rest of the series, but, even though there are some distinct differences between this and earlier Bond movies, there are still enough similarities. This was a good movie, and I look forward to seeing what Daniel Craig does with the role of James Bond in future movies.

My Rating:
8/10
