They decide to take a vacation, and stop in L.A. to see their daughter, Sandi (Lori Loughlin). Marriage problems ensue when they run into Connie (Connie Stevens), who has erected a shrine to Frankie in her night club. Frankie sets out to win back Annette, with the help of Michael (Tommy Hinkley), Sandi's fiance.
Review:
I've seen one or two of Frankie and Annette's beach movies from the early 60's, and I did not like them. Back to the Beach, however, is a different story. Sure, there are quite a few similarities to the earlier movies, but Back to the Beach pokes fun at their earlier beach movies. Cameos from Barbara Billingsley, Tony Dow, Jerry Mathers, Bob Denver, and other 50's and 60's stars round out the movie very well. Back to the Beach, is simply a fun and lighthearted culture clash, between the 60's and the 80's.
My Rating:
9/10
